Information for visitors

Museum open: Schwyz, Zentrum bus stop remains in service and the Hofmatt car park remains accessible despite construction work

Construction work is currently taking place around the Forum of Swiss History Schwyz. However, the museum is fully open and easily accessible.

The Hofmatt car park remains accessible. The Schwyz, Zentrum bus stop also continues to operate as usual.

Due to the construction work, the usual pedestrian route to the museum is temporarily closed. From the bus stop or the Hofmatt car park, please follow the signposted, step-free diversion.

The diversion route is also suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs. If you have any questions about step-free access, our reception team will be happy to assist you: +41 41 819 60 11.

Public transport

At Schwyz railway station, take bus No 501 towards Muotathal and alight at the ‘Schwyz Zentrum’ stop. The Museum is right next to the bus stop, on the opposite side of the Schwyzer Kantonalbank.

On the A4 motorway, take the ‘Schwyz’ exit and follow the signs for ‘Schwyz’ into the village centre. Parking is available at the Museum in the Parkhaus Hofmatt parking facility.

The museum welcomes people with a wide range of needs. Customised exhibition assistance can be organised by appointment. Please speak to the Reservations Desk if you have any questions about accessibility and inclusion.

For people with reduced mobility, the Museum has one wheelchair available for use during your visit. Please make a reservation with the Welcome Desk by telephone. An accessible toilet is located in the basement. All floors are accessible by lift.
